# Hitoo at a glance

Hitoo is an Italian technology project founded in 2025 by Matteo Pelosi in Mantova. It develops real-time voice translation for businesses, with Hitoo Desktop, enterprise pilots and the AURIS research programme.

## What does Hitoo do?

Hitoo is building a multilingual voice layer for the communication tools companies already use. The aim is to let colleagues, customers and partners speak their own languages during live conversations, without moving their work to a separate meeting platform.

## What is Hitoo Desktop?

Hitoo Desktop is under active development for macOS and Windows. It connects microphone input, incoming call audio and translated speech through an endpoint audio layer. Development covers bidirectional routing, virtual audio, live session controls, interruption handling and latency monitoring.

## How does it fit into existing calls?

The intended workflow keeps the existing meeting application, such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Hitoo handles audio around that application: outgoing speech is translated for the other participants, while incoming speech is translated for the local listener. Compatibility, installation and audio-device configuration are checked for each pilot.

## Who is it for?

The focus is on organizations with recurring multilingual conversations: international meetings, consulting, customer support, cross-border operations and training. Healthcare and legal services are also evaluation contexts, where suitability and any need for professional interpretation must be assessed separately.

## What does an enterprise pilot cover?

A pilot defines the use case, languages in both directions, operating systems, communication tools, participants and success criteria. Enterprise planning also covers managed installation, device and user administration, policies and operational visibility. The available controls and deployment configuration are agreed for that pilot.

## What is AURIS?

AURIS is Hitoo’s research programme into direct speech-to-speech translation, conversational context and continuity of the speaker’s voice. Preserving vocal identity, tone and intent is a research objective. Research targets are distinct from the capabilities and performance validated in a Hitoo Desktop pilot.

## Which languages, latency and privacy options are available?

These are confirmed for the specific pilot. A website language or a research coverage target does not establish support for a speech-language pair. Translation quality, conversational delay, audio processing, providers, retention and deployment requirements need to be evaluated together for the chosen configuration.
